CoinDCX Exchange Hacked in $44M Outtake Incident
Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX reported being compromised in a hack on Friday, resulting in an approximate $44 million outtake.
The attack exploited an internal account used for liquidity provision between platforms. This account was accessed following a server breach, sources indicated.
According to CEO Sumit Gupta, customers’ funds remained secure. He detailed:
“The incident was quickly contained by isolating the affected operational account. Since our operational accounts are segregated from customer wallets, the exposure is limited to this specific account and is being fully absorbed from our treasury reserves.”
Blockchain analyst ZachXBT identified that the attacker acquired 1 ETH from Tornado Cash before transferring part of the stolen amount from Solana to Ethereum.
Coin Telegraph attempted to reach CoinDCX for further comment but received no response by publication time.
Analyzing the incident, Infinity Hedge pointed out that on this date one year prior, prominent Indian competitor WazirX suffered a $235 million hack.
This is a developing story.
