Crypto Influencer BitBoy Arrested on Harassing Calls Linked to Georgia Warrant
Ben Armstrong, the controversial cryptocurrency streamer known as “BitBoy,” was arrested in Cherokee County, Georgia, on June 27 after allegedly making harassing phone calls to three individuals.
Armstrong, who has been represented by the Georgia Department of Corrections, was booked into the Cherokee County Jail that day and released on bond the following day.
A new mugshot released by the Georgia Gazette depicts Armstrong appearing notably dishevelled compared to his appearance during previous arrests earlier in the year.
Armstrong has not issued a public statement regarding the June arrest. Similarly, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has provided no further details about the alleged harassing calls.
Background on Legal Issues
his June 27th arrest marks another chapter in a series of legal troubles for Armstrong.
In March, Armstrong was arrested in Florida on a fugitive warrant issued by Georgia authorities. According to reports, the warrant stemmed from emails allegedly sent by Armstrong to Cobb County Superior Court Judge Kim Childs, whom he was publicly opposing in a separate defamation case. Armstrong confirmed via his social media account that these communications led to his March arrest.
Furthermore, Armstrong is a defendant in a notable defamation lawsuit filed against “Shark Tank” investor Kevin O’Leary. The case accuses Armstrong of disseminating false and malicious allegations about O’Leary, including fabricating claims that he is responsible for the deaths of two people in a 2019 boating accident. O’Leary, who has not faced charges in that incident, is seeking damages exceeding $75,000. The case remains active in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, with O’Leary recently filing a motion for default judgment.
Many of Armstrong’s recent legal issues are linked to his dispute and eventual ousting from HIT Network, the crypto media company he co-founded.
His removal from the company in September 2023 followed an announcement that accused him of alleged substance abuse, financial impropriety, and unpredictable behavior. Shortly after, Armstrong went live streaming in an attempt to retrieve a Lamborghini claimed to have been stolen by a former business partner, Carlos Diaz. During the brief stream, which was deleted from his platform, Armstrong openly discussed possessing a firearm in the vehicle and mentioned a woman with him who was identified as a former personal relationship. The subsequent live stream led to immediate arrest for loitering charges.
