Crypto Gaming Studio Raises $5M in Funding
Crypto gaming studio VOYA Games has secured $5 million in a funding round led by 1kx and Makers Fund, with RockawayX also participating in the investment.
Additional investors include Angel investors Jeff Zirlin, co-founder of Sky Mavis, and Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox.
CEO and founder Oliver Loffler shared the vision: “Our goal is to build a token ecosystem where games are connected through a shared player economy and culture.”
The funding will bolster development of their upcoming title, Craft World, and establish infrastructure for long-term objectives.
A look at the pixelated aesthetic of Craft World.
Craft World positions itself as a “casual resource management game” featuring NFT items set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans coexist with dinosaurs. The game is currently in testnet phase with Android downloads exceeding 100,000 units and over one million testnet transactions completed.
1kx partner Peter Pan commented, “They’re building a Web3 gaming ecosystem that prioritizes openness and ownership, treating the game world more like a public good than a closed economy.”
The title utilizes Dyno Coin, a utility token for NFT purchases and crafting, emphasizing its non-speculative nature as evidenced by its absence from crypto exchanges.
VOYA Games, an entity established in 2023 and connected to Angry Dynomites Lab’s 2022 NFT collections, leverages founder Oliver Loffler’s experience from Kolibri Games—an Android mobile studio responsible for over 100 million downloads across games like Idle Miner Tycoon.
Context: The crypto gaming sector continues to favor mobile platforms.
According to Game7 research, mobile games constitute approximately 29% of crypto game launches last year, with an additional 20% being Telegram-based games primarily accessed via mobile. Nearly half (49%) of crypto games prioritize mobile-first development.
Mobile games demonstrate several advantages including lower development costs, increased accessibility, higher revenue potential, and align with established monetization patterns familiar to audiences. As articulated by VOYA team, “Development costs for resource management games are comparably low. This enables rapid iteration through player feedback.”
Expected to fully launch by year-end, Craft World will support web, iOS, and Android platforms.
