Off The Grid developer Gunzilla Games is expanding its presence onto the Solana blockchain, adding a Solana version of its native GUN token as part of a strategic multi-chain initiative initially launched on Avalanche.

Solana Launch Details & Tokenomics

Gunzilla announced the upcoming Solana listing, but did not release the specific token contract address associated with the chain. Initial details suggest the Solana launch may involve migrating a portion of the total token supply, though the overall supply distribution and timeline implications remain unclear.

Existing holders on Avalanche can opt to move their GUN tokens to Solana. However, the Gunz mainnet, which operates as an Avalanche subnet, along with other studio blockchain features, will remain on Avalanche (at least temporarily).

The transition to Solana is scheduled for this Thursday. As part of the reveal, Gunzilla showcased Solana-branded merchandise including a hoodie, sunglasses, and a gun skin.

Both Gunzilla CEO Vlad Korolev and Solana Gaming Marketing Lead hinted, through an X Space, that Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko might join the game as an in-game character (“Toly”).

CEO Commentary on Multi-Chain Strategy

“To evolve, to succeed, we at Gunzilla believe that you need to ship something today what will become very successful and famous — the product,” Korolev stated in the X Space. “Today, if you are working on something popular today, from our point of view, you’re already late.” He emphasized supporting successful platforms like Solana simultaneously as crucial for growth alongside community-driven game development.

Market Performance

GUN token experienced a significant correction, dropping approximately 70% from its all-time high about three months ago. However, there has been a recent 45% increase over the past two weeks.

Current circulation supply represents roughly 6% of the total GUN token supply. The future price trajectory could be impacted by token unlocking events as more tokens enter circulation over time.

Network Comparison: Solana vs. Avalanche

Gunzilla cites Solana’s higher network activity as a strategic factor. According to Blockworks Research data cited in the original segment, Solana’s network generated over $819 million in revenue during the first quarter (Q1), significantly exceeding Avalanche’s total network revenue of around $1.5 million for the same period.

In terms of transactions, Solana facilitated over 8.5 billion transactions in Q1, compared to approximately 32 million on the Avalanche network during that quarter.

While Gunz’s testnet has recorded over 705 million transactions and its mainnet (currently undergoing migration) logged over 8.9 million transactions, verifying the organic nature of this activity is challenging.

Development Timeline Adjustments

Off The Grid’s original planned release on the PC platform Steam was tentatively scheduled for June. However, the development team recently provided an update indicating they are continuing to prepare the Steam version, stating they are “putting the final touches” to the game release on that platform.
