TON Foundation Names New Head of Growth Amid US Expansion Plans
The Open Network (TON) Foundation, which operates the independent network behind Telegram’s infrastructure, has appointed Martin Masser as head of growth. Masser aims to increase awareness of TON following its highly successful ‘tap-to-earn’ campaign last year.
Speaking in an interview, Masser highlighted the small ratio of people familiar with TON compared to the much larger recognition of Telegram itself. His primary focus is on establishing and expanding TON’s presence in the United States and Europe.
Despite US residents currently unable to utilize TON Space (a self-custodial browser wallet integrated into Telegram), Masser confirmed that expanding access to the platform for the US market is a key strategic objective. No specific launch date has been set for this expansion.
Masser expressed enthusiasm for the American market, citing its dynamic nature and the wealth of innovation originating from the US. “I love the American market… We haven’t even had that to touch,” he stated. “I love going to America. There’s an energy. There’s a buzz, you know.”
Looking ahead, Masser hopes to attract United States-based developers to build the next generation of crypto applications on the TON platform. These potential applications span various categories including games, payments, remittance tools, DeFi miniapps, and diverse utility apps accessible directly within the Telegram interface.
Addressing his specific role, Masser clarified that his objective as head of growth is not to dictate narratives or “force” development trends onto the ecosystem. He emphasized supporting developers by providing feedback and fostering connections. “I love the fact, because people use Telegram, they have their ideas already,” Masser explained. “I want to be there a) to support them, give them feedback, and also connect… You can add so many more things.”
