Crypto Exchange Bitget Partners with UNICEF for Blockchain Education Initiative

Crypto exchange Bitget announced a three-year partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Luxembourg, focused on advancing digital skills and blockchain literacy among young people.

The collaboration places Bitget in the Game Changers Coalition, led by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation. The initiative targets 300,000 participants across 8 countries (Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, South Africa), including adolescents, girls, parents, mentors, and teachers.

Bitget joins a network of organizations in supporting the coalition’s goal: empowering 1.1 million girls with tech and blockchain skills by 2027. Key partners include the Global Video Game Coalition, the Micron Foundation, and Women in Games.

Beyond the agreement, Bitget details a $10 million initiative, Blockchain4Her. This program champions women’s digital literacy via mentorship, funding, and educational resources.

Key elements of the Chess Providers’ contribution involve connecting participants with industry leaders, integrating Web3 protocols, and facilitating mentorship within the program.

“Our focus is on equipping adolescent girls with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills to help close the gender skills gap.”

— Gracy Chen, CEO, Bitget

The partnership aims to develop globally scalable curricula for integrating blockchain education into relevant tech education programs, leveraging expert input from the Web3 domain. Chen highlighted that Bitget is collaborating with UNICEF to maintain the relevance and accessibility of the training.

Bitget underscores the urgency: Globally, girls in low and middle-income countries lose up to $15 billion annually in economic opportunities due to limited digital skills compared to boys. This partnership seeks to bridge this digital gender gap, as 90% of jobs require digital competencies.

Innovative Blockchain Education Through Gamification

Bitget Academy will develop UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module. The module utilizes a blend of online and in-person sessions and employs video game creation as a core pedagogical tool.

“Gamification breaks down complex concepts to their core… It’s only natural to learn best when our environment is interactive and supportive.”

— Gracy Chen, CEO, Bitget

Chen emphasized that game-based learning is effective due to the massive audience base of global gamers (around 3.3 billion). The initiative also explores technological advancements like Generative AI to enhance lesson delivery and broaden access to specialized digital skills.
